It's a new campus season. We check out what students are carrying to college.
It's never easy figuring out what kind of bag to carry to college. There are the tiny ones, which look great but can barely fit in a lipstick and there are the backpacks which, many fear, look geeky.
So when BT went around checking out the kind of bags students carry to college nowadays, they found bags in all shapes and sizes.

And some with barely any space for even a book!
According to Divya Venugopal, a final year degree student, she and her friends are typical backpackcarrying types.
"Only one of our friends carries a tiny bag with nothing in it but her lipstick, comb, mirror and a fruit juice. We prefer comfort over style.Her friend Soumya M adds that, on campus, people carry all kinds of bags.
"Some get really tiny bags, but carry lots of books in their hand - which looks extremely foolish. There are others who come to college to go out - so they don't carry anything in their bags,she laughs.
For Priyanka Serrao, Nikita Bout and Melinda Bartley, it was their first day at college. Which meant no backpacks. Nikita, who opened up her bag to show us its contents, said she was carrying only a calender, a rule book, a handbook, besides a bottle of water, hair brush, money and a scrunchie.

"They've also told us no mobiles. Maybe, once the work load increases I'll get a bigger bag.Melinda, who's thrilled at being given a locker, says she's going to make full use of it. "I don't want to carry my books up and down.
As for the guys, the arrival of the man bag has made a big difference.Says youngster Dhruv Warrior: "There are loads of bags for guys - the backpack, khadi bags, those bags with just one string running through it and bags that you can strap across your shoulder."
I have this cycling bag which is easy to carry and is worn high on the back. I've always carried backpacks for utility, because my bags used to be torn, scribbled on, even kicked. Although I change my bags, it has to be comfortable, not stylish. It's great if it can take a beating for three years!
